Your Energy Can Affect Your Life

There’s a moment many of us face, where our body finally says what we’ve ignored for too long.

For me, it was a broken foot. I was rushing, as usual, running up a set of stairs, overriding every sign my body had been offering for weeks. I was physically exhausted, emotionally brittle, short-tempered, foggy, and heavy. But I kept pushing forward.

There was always something to do, someone to show up for. Rest felt indulgent. Unproductive. Something to get to later.

But the body doesn’t lie. And when we don’t listen to the whispers, it eventually screams.

Breaking my foot was painful, but it was also a reckoning.

It forced me into stillness. To stop doing and start feeling. It was then I realised how long I’d been living from the neck up, disconnected from my energy, my intuition, and the deeper wisdom of my body.

We are conditioned to value output over alignment, logic over intuition. And I’ve talked about this in a few articles recently as I’ve worked towards tackling this specific topic. When we live this way (all doing, no attuning), we lose connection with our energetic selves. And over time, that costs us more than we realise.

It costs us our clarity, our vitality, our joy.

What Does Energetic Disconnection Feel Like?

Energetic disconnection can be subtle. It doesn’t always look like burnout. Sometimes it’s a quiet feeling that something’s “off”... but you can’t name why.

It’s a resistance to stillness. A constant loop of overthinking without clarity. Pushing through when you’re tired. Saying yes when your energy says no. Numbing discomfort with action or control.

It’s not weakness that gets us here, it’s conditioning. We’ve been taught to override, to perform, to rationalise our way through exhaustion. We tell ourselves we’re “just tired,” “just busy,” or “just not that bad.”

But underneath the story, our energy tells the truth. It always does.

Your energy walks into the room before you do. It lives in the way you breathe, the way you hold your body, the frequency behind your words. And if you’re not aware of what you’re carrying, it speaks for you anyway.

How to Reconnect with Your Energetic Self

Awareness is the first step. You can’t shift what you’re not conscious of. Here are a few gentle, grounding practices to begin building that awareness:

Morning attunement: Before the day begins, ask yourself, How do I feel in my body today? Do a simple body scan. Tune in.

Pause and breathe: Before each task or meeting, take a moment to pause. Breathe. Drop into the body and ask, What’s present for me right now?

Emotional inventory: What feeling is sitting just beneath the surface? Naming it helps soften its grip.

Nature: Spend 10 minutes outdoors, letting nature regulate your nervous system. Notice the shift.

Energy journaling: At the end of the day, ask yourself: Where did I feel expanded? Where did I contract?

When you begin to honour your energetic self, you lead from a different place. Not from pressure or performance, but from presence and peace. You stop chasing clarity and start living in alignment. You don’t just access your power; you embody it.

You weren’t made to push through everything. You were made to feel, to listen, to respond with wisdom.

And it starts by asking the question:

What do I need right now, not to get more done, but to honour the truth of my energy?

I’d love to hear your answers, whether in my DMs or in the comments.
